Synastry Readings ╱ Astrology For Relationships
What is Synastry?
Synastry is the comparison of two natal charts to observe how each person’s placements interact with the other’s. It involves overlaying one chart onto another to examine how the planets, angles, and houses align across both charts. This method highlights the energetic dynamics between two individuals. While often used for romantic partnerships, synastry is valuable for all types of relationships. One or two people may attend.
How Synastry Readings are Useful
People come to synastry readings for many reasons. Some are navigating tension or change in a relationship. Others are simply curious about what happens when two people come together.
This reading can support clearer communication, emotional understanding, or a renewed sense of what the relationship is asking of each person. It can also just be something you do with someone you care about to better understand each other, name the things that work well, and laugh at the strange, uncanny ways your charts speak to one another.
Whether you're facing a question, a shift, or just want to explore the connection more intentionally, synastry gives us a shared language to work with.
Types of Relationships This Reading Covers
While most people associate synastry with romantic relationships, this technique applies to many types of connections. It can be used to reflect on:
✑ Romantic partnerships
✑ Marriages
✑ Close friendships
✑ Creative or business partnerships
✑ Adult parent–child relationships [the ‘child’ must be at least 18 years old]
✑ Longstanding mentor or teacher dynamics
✑ Any emotionally significant bond that feels worth exploring
Synastry Reading Session Details
A synastry reading may be attended by one person seeking insight into a relationship, or by both people who want to explore their dynamic together. It is required that each new client attending a synastry reading first complete a natal chart reading with me on a separate day. This ensures that both individuals understand their own emotional patterns, history, and tendencies. Without that foundational work, a synastry reading can lead to projection or misinterpretation of the shared dynamic.
Synastry readings are held over Zoom and last one hour. We begin with a conversation about your relationship and what you’re hoping to learn or understand more clearly. This part of the session usually takes between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the depth of context you provide.
The focus of the reading is shaped by what you’re bringing to the session. We examine house overlays, cross-aspects between charts, the emotional tone between Moons and Mercuries, and how each person’s planets activate the other's. We pay close attention to any repeated configurations or missing elements, and we always return to the question of how each person’s chart expresses itself within the relationship.
This is not a generic compatibility report. It’s a live, reflective process with nuance and complexity.
My Synastry Philosophy
Synastry does not predict whether a relationship will last. It does not assign value to a connection or diagnose it. What it offers is a mirror — one that reflects how two individual patterns come into contact and form a third experience between them.
To me, synastry is not about fixing a relationship or sentencing it to a particular fate. It’s about seeing it.
Why I Don’t Read Charts for Children
I do not offer astrological readings for young or small children. While astrology can be a powerful reflective tool, introducing astrological language too early can negatively shape a child’s developing sense of identity. It risks leading parents to project fixed traits or patterns onto the child, rather than staying present to who the child is becoming on their own terms.
When clients are seeking support in parenting, I work with the parent’s chart rather than the child’s. If a child’s chart is referenced, it is used symbolically as a stable point of reflection to help the parent grow in their role, not to define the child. In this framework, the child becomes a kind of transit for the parent’s development. The goal is to deepen the parent’s self-awareness and adaptability, not to analyze or label the child.
If you’re not sure if the reading you’re looking for is considered Synastry, consider booking a custom reading.
