Jess Abbott, CPA, Dip. MISPA, MAPAI is a psychological astrologer and the creator of Inkblot Astrology, a practice built on the belief that the birth chart functions much like an inkblot test—an intricate pattern that invites careful observation, reflection, and interpretation.
She holds certification through the Centre for Psychological Astrology and a diploma from the Mercury Internet School of Psychological Astrology (MISPA). Jess draws from both psychological and traditional astrological methods, using classical rulerships and the Campanus house system. Her work is deeply informed by the teachings of Liz Greene, Darby Costello, and Dane Rudhyar, whose writing bridges astrology, psychology, and the human experience.
Originally rooted in a worldview shaped by rationalism and skepticism, Jess experienced a profound shift after an unexplainable event in her early twenties challenged her understanding of reality. This opened the door to astrology as a powerful tool for working with uncertainty, meaning, and human complexity. Through one-on-one consultations, she offers a thoughtful and grounded space for clients who are ready to engage more deeply with their own inner landscape.
In addition to her private practice, Jess hosts the Inkblot Astrology podcast and runs a Patreon community, offering real-time transit interpretation, a book club, and educational resources for astrology students and enthusiasts. She also writes in-depth articles on her website, blending psychological insight with astrological symbolism for those looking to deepen their study.
More About Me
For much of my early life my beliefs were rooted in reason, science, rationality — things that are “provable”. It wasn’t until a very startling and mysterious personal experience in my early 20’s that I began to loosen that mindset and open myself up to the idea that it’s perhaps impossible to truly know what is real and what is not. We can make some pretty good guesses about many things, but there is one subject in particular that contains no exact answer: meaning.
It was through discovering astrology, and personal therapeutic work, that I was able to begin my own search for meaning in earnest. After years of study I still can’t say for sure whether or not I ‘believe’ the planets are physically or psychologically impacting humans, and I’ll likely never have a set answer for myself. But allowing for infinite possibilities without judgment or presumption is where my mind and creativity run most free. Astrology is my weapon of choice when it comes to connecting others with their own personal sense of meaning.
Prior to offering astrology consultations, I grew up in Sacramento, California + Kittery, Maine, reading avidly and playing guitar in my bedroom. I spent my first decade of adulthood in the music industry songwriting, recording, and performing on tour. In that time I also lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota + the Bay Area in California. Eventually I moved to Los Angeles, California to work in music management. From there, I moved back to the Maine coast, giving astrology readings, writing music, and designing websites. My free time is spent with family + friends, or chiseling my way through a never-ending reading list of philosophy books. After all, I am a Gemini Sun + Sagittarius Rising.
